These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the HewnStrong website (hewnstrong.com) and the purchase of products from us. By accessing this site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.

1. General

HewnStrong is the trade name of HUNE LLC, a Missouri limited liability company. We create handcrafted wood products, including custom mantels and pre-made artifact inventory items.

By using this website or purchasing from us, you agree to comply with these Terms. We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Products & Orders

All HewnStrong products are handmade from natural wood. Each piece is unique and will vary in grain pattern, texture, color, tone, knots, checking, mineral streaks, and other natural characteristics.

Wood is a living, organic material. Variations in appearance are not defects—they are inherent to the material and part of what makes each piece one of a kind. No two pieces will ever be exactly alike. Differences from photos, samples, or previous work are normal and should be expected as part of working with natural materials and handcrafted artistry.

3D Visualization Tool

Our website includes a 3D visualization tool for custom mantels. This tool is provided for illustrative and design planning purposes only.

The 3D rendering:

  • Is not photo-realistic and does not represent the exact final appearance
  • Shows uniform shapes and does not reflect natural wood variations, grain patterns, or irregularities
  • May not accurately depict dimensions, proportions, color, texture, or finish
  • Does not accurately show details such as knots, checking, mineral streaks, or other natural characteristics
  • Is a simplified representation of the design concept, not a guarantee of the final product

The actual mantel you receive will be handcrafted from real wood with all the natural variations and character marks described in this policy. Differences between the 3D visualization and your finished mantel are expected and normal.

Order Acceptance

When you place an order through our website and payment is processed, your order is immediately accepted. We reserve the right to cancel any order for any reason and issue a full refund within a reasonable timeframe.

Production Timelines

  • Standard custom orders: 3-6 weeks from order date
  • Expedited orders: 1-2 weeks from order date

These timelines are estimates based on current workload and are not guarantees. Timeline estimates shown on the website are calculated from your device's current date.

If we fail to complete an expedited order within the expedited timeframe, we will refund the expedited processing fee.

3. Product Categories

Custom & Made-to-Order Items (Including Mantels)

All custom and made-to-order pieces are final sale and non-refundable once production has begun.

Production is considered to have begun when either:

  • We order supplies, materials, or equipment for your project, OR
  • Physical work on your piece has started

Whichever occurs first.

Cancellation: If you need to cancel a custom order, you must do so within 24 hours of order placement. Contact us immediately at thomas@hewnstrong.com. Cancellations requested after production has begun cannot be accommodated.

By placing a custom order, you acknowledge and accept these terms.

Artifact Inventory (Pre-Made Items)

Pre-made items from our Artifact Inventory collection may be eligible for return under the conditions outlined in our Return Policy. Please review that policy for complete details.

Other Custom Work

We may accept custom orders outside of the mantel and artifact inventory categories. Unless otherwise specified in writing, such orders will be governed by the same terms as custom mantels (final sale, non-refundable once production begins).

4. Pricing & Payment

  • All prices are listed in USD
  • Payment is required in full (100%) before production begins
  • Payment is processed through Stripe
  • Prices shown at time of order are locked in and will not change
  • Taxes and shipping fees are calculated and charged at checkout
  • Shipping costs are paid by the customer at time of order

5. Shipping & Delivery

  • HewnStrong arranges and manages all shipping
  • We typically use third-party carriers for shipping
  • In some cases, we may personally deliver items
  • Local pickup may be arranged on a case-by-case basis by contacting us directly
  • Shipping timelines are estimates and not guaranteed
  • HewnStrong is not responsible for delays caused by carriers or freight companies
  • Risk of loss transfers to the buyer upon delivery

Customer Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate shipping address
  • Ensuring proper access for delivery of large items
  • Being available to receive delivery or arranging for someone to accept it
  • Inspecting items immediately upon arrival
  • Reporting any shipping damage or defects promptly (see Return Policy)

Damaged Items

If your item arrives damaged, accept the delivery and immediately:

  1. Take clear photographs of all damage (packaging and product)
  2. Email photos to thomas@hewnstrong.com with your order number
  3. Include a description of the damage

Do not refuse delivery. Claims must be submitted as outlined in our Return Policy.

6. Installation

Installation of mantels and other products is not included in the purchase price unless explicitly stated otherwise in your order confirmation.

You are responsible for:

  • Arranging for qualified professionals to install your mantel or product
  • Ensuring proper mounting, support, and safety measures
  • Compliance with local building codes and regulations
  • Any costs associated with installation, including labor, hardware, and modifications to your home

We are happy to provide general guidance or recommendations, but we are not liable for installation issues, improper mounting, or any damage resulting from installation performed by you or third parties.

8. Warranty Disclaimer

ALL PRODUCTS ARE SOLD "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

We stand behind our craftsmanship, but wood is a natural material that will continue to move, settle, and age over time. This is normal and expected.

9. Intellectual Property

All website content, designs, images, photographs, text, logos, and branding are the property of HUNE LLC (d/b/a HewnStrong) and may not be used, reproduced, or distributed without written permission.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HewnStrong and HUNE LLC shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of use, revenue, or profit
  • Delays or failures due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (including but not limited to natural disasters, material shortages, equipment failures, or carrier delays)
  • Installation errors, improper mounting, or damage resulting from installation

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the product in question.

11. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failure to perform due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of God, fire, flood, severe weather, war, strikes, material shortages, equipment failure, or government restrictions.

12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your purchase shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Missouri.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Return Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and HewnStrong regarding your use of the website and purchase of products.
